Overview
If your company is migrating to a new email domain, you can update the email address associated with your LaunchDarkly account. Most members can update their own email address. Some accounts have a locked email field, which requires an administrator to complete the change.
Solution
Follow the instructions that match your account.
Self-serve steps
If the Email field on your profile page is editable, you can update your email address yourself.
To update your email address:
- Navigate to https://app.launchdarkly.com/profile.
- Confirm that the Email field is editable.
- Follow the steps in Change your display name and email address.
Verification email did not arrive
If you do not receive the verification email:
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- Ask your administrator to confirm that your new mailbox is provisioned and can receive external email.
- If your administrator confirms the mailbox is working and the verification email still does not arrive, contact LaunchDarkly Support.
Email field is locked
If the Email field at https://app.launchdarkly.com/profile is greyed out, you cannot change it yourself. The next steps depend on the message displayed on your profile page.
Error mentions an OAuth provider
If the message reads: "You cannot change your email address as it is connected to..." followed by the name of an OAuth provider, your LaunchDarkly account is linked to that provider.
Ask your administrator to read Error: "You cannot change your email address as it is connected to..." when changing email address and follow the instructions described there. Your administrator will need to recreate your account.
No message appears and the email field is read-only
If no error message appears and the Email field is read-only, your account uses single sign-on (SSO).
Members cannot update their own email address when SSO is enabled. Contact your administrator so they can update your email address through your identity provider. To learn more, read How to update email addresses when switching to a new domain.
